High School Teacher Honors her Mother through Samaritan’s Feet!
Carolina Forest High School Teacher and FCA Coordinator Ann Twigg (pictured, right) had never heard of Samaritan’s Feet. That is, until her mother Grace Barringer Morris heard Manny speak at a church in London, North Carolina. Manny’s testimony deeply affected Grace, who then shared with Ann the mission and goals of Samaritan’s Feet.
After Ann’s mother recently passed away, Ann decided to honor Grace’s memory by getting involved with Samaritan’s Feet.
For the month of December, Ann and the Carolina Forest FCA members sold ‘paper shoes’ to raise money for Samaritan’s Feet. They capped off their efforts with a shoe drive at the January 4th Varsity Men’s Basketball Game, where Head Coach Brian Brunson and Assistant Coach Chad Schildt agreed to coach the game barefoot. The end result was over $750 and several pairs of new athletic shoes donated to Samaritan’s Feet!
Ann and the generous students, teachers and parents of Carolina Forest are already leveraging this event to spearhead future projects with Samaritan’s Feet. In addition to the athletic director’s commitment to another barefoot event next year, Carolina Forest’s Baseball Coach Jack Jolly plans to involve his team in a shoe distribution this spring! As well, Ann and her two daughters are now interested in an international trip with Samaritan’s Feet.
Thank you Ann, Coach Brunson, Coach Schildt, FCA, and all those connected to Carolina Forest High School for giving back to those less fortunate, and for dedicating your time, energy and resources to provide children in need with hope, compassion, and new shoes!
