Thomas Kinkade partners with Samaritan's Feet

Thomas Kinkade, known as the “Painter of Light” has joined Samaritan’s Feet to put help put 10 million shoes on 10 million children’s feet. Thomas Kinkade has generously agreed to donate a portion of his proceeds from his website sales to Samaritan’s Feet. The famous painter will paint the 60 year old, 84-Foot-Tall Norway spruce live on Friday, November 30th in New York City. Kinkade joins Samaritan’s Feet Founder, Manny Ohonme in New York for the Christmas festivities to kick-off this special promotion between two generous organizations.

Over the years, Thomas Kinkade has devoted himself to many charitable causes including Make-A-Wish Foundation, Salvation Army and Points Of Light Foundation, just to name a few. Named by the Points of Light Foundation as America 's "National Ambassador of Light," he acts as a spokesperson to promote the ideals of giving and service throughout the world. Coming from a modest background, Thomas Kinkade emphasizes simple pleasures and inspirational messages through his paintings. Thomas Kinkade uses his gift as a vehicle to communicate and spread inherent life-affirming values.

The vision for Samaritan’s Feet was conceived over 23 years ago on one hot summer afternoon at a camp in Lagos, Nigeria when a stranger from Wisconsin befriended a young African boy, named Emmanuel Ohonme. The young boy, like so many other children in Africa and around the world, had never known the comfort and security of owning a pair of tennis shoes. This “Good Samaritan” gave a life-changing gift and a message of hope to that 9-year old boy. He gave him his first pair of tennis shoes.

With that new pair of shoes for inspiration, Emmanuel went on to compete in sports activities in Africa. Specifically, he developed a love, as well as, a superior talent for competitive basketball. He was offered a full basketball scholarship at University of North Dakota. Ohonme spent ten plus years in the marketing field before starting Samaritan’s Feet. Through Samaritan’s Feet, Emmanuel has the opportunity to continue the legacy of love and hope he received when he was given that pair of shoes. He has the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of millions.

“Samaritan’s Feet” goal is to equip the feet of 10 million impoverished people, with 10 million pairs of shoes, over the next 10 years.
