The Dan Dakich Show on ESPN 1070 The Fan has partnered with Samaritan's Feet and IUPUI Coach Ron Hunter. Dan has agreed to go barefoot on the air every day from now until January 18th until we get 500 basketball coaches to agree to coach a game in their bare feet on or before January 16th.

On January 24, 2008, I coached a game in my bare feet. Because of your support, it was a huge success. On January 17, 2009, I took my shoes off again, and invited athletic coaches at all levels to join me! The results were amazing--over ONE MILLION new pairs of shoes were donated to Samaritan's Feet!
In 2010, I am asking every athletic coach in America to join me again. I want every men's and women's coach of youth, AAU, high school, college and pro to join me in using your platform to help the 300 million children who wake up every day without shoes.
With your help, we can achieve our goal of raising 5 million dollars, which will allow us to place shoes on the feet of one million children.
In the summer of 2008, I personally delivered the new shoes with my team, to Lima, Peru. In August 2009, I traveled to Costa Rica for a shoe distribution. It broke my heart to see these children suffer from disease and injury because they lack something that we take for granted - a pair of shoes. Please join me and Samaritan's Feet to help put an end to this global problem.

Many youth, high school and college coaches have already agreed to do join us this year, including college coaches from the Horizon and Summit Leagues. Our goal is to raise over 5 million dollars which will improve the lives of one million impoverished children throughout the world.
Coaches, here's all you have to do:
1. Go barefoot during one game on or around the January 16th date. You will need to Register for the event.
2. Download the Barefoot for Bare Feet timeline to help make your coaching event a success.
3. Conduct media interviews that come your way as a result of the gesture. You can download our fact sheet here which includes talking points for the media.
3. Ask your Athletics Department to promote the 'text to give' program, by downloading posters and flyers from our website. Color versions of the posters and flyers will be sent to all coaches who are registered to coach a game barefoot.
4. Help forward the message to your coaching fraternity, whether they are coaches at the college, high school or AAU/youth level. We want them all to do it as a sign of solidarity. You can also direct them to our brochure!
