Samaritan’s Feet Partners with Grammy Award-Winning Songwriter Gordon Chambers

Recording Artist Gordon Chambers and Music Cares – Charlotte Partner with Barefoot Entertainment to Provide Shoes of Hope for Children in Need

Promotion will benefit Samaritan’s Feet programs.

CHARLOTTE, NC (January 20, 2011) — GRAMMY Award-Winning composer and R&B Singer Gordon Chambers will be in concert at The Sunset Club in Charlotte on February 16th. Presented by the Charlotte Division of Music Cares, proceeds from the live music concert will go to benefit the non-profit Samaritan’s Feet.

The accomplished artist has joined forces with the Barefoot Entertainment division of Samaritan’s Feet in order to provide new shoes and hope for children in need around the world. After receiving esteemed awards for penning hit songs for iconic R&B legends such as Anita Baker, Beyonce, Usher, Whitney Houston, Yolanda Adams and the legendary Patti Labelle, he has released his third solo album, Sincere, and will be in Charlotte as a part of his promotional tour “One Night Only, with Gordon Chambers & Friends”.

Mr. Chambers will host the event barefoot in order to raise awareness for the estimated 300 million children who are without shoes in the world today.

“Many of these children do not have access to proper foot care, and a simple pair of shoes reduces their risk of infection, disease and amputation,” said Peter Rieke, Director of Barefoot Entertainment. “Still others are unable to attend school to receive an education because they simply lack shoes – and we are grateful Gordon Chambers has signed on to become a national and international Barefoot Entertainment Ambassador to help provide children an on-going opportunity of hope.”

Samaritan’s Feet has a goal to provide 10 million pairs of shoes to children around the world in the next 10 years.

According to Essence Magazine (of which Gordon is the former Entertainment Editor), Gordon “effortlessly melds a pop/R&B sound with a classic soul aesthetic that is certain to surprise and delight contemporary R&B fans and soul enthusiasts alike.” (Castro, 2011) Newcomer Eliz Camacho will be opening for Gordon.
