RED BANK, NJ (April 2, 2009) - About 100 people came out to support “A Night of Fashion and Beauty” at Red Bank Regional High School, organized by senior Madeline McEvily.  Madeline's goal was to help Samaritan’s Feet by donating the proceeds from the prom dresses sold.  She first heard about Samaritan’s Feet while watching a clip on ESPN last summer.  With the help of her dad, she came up with an idea for a fundraiser to help Samaritan’s Feet.  When school started in September 2008, she pitched the idea of selling prom dresses at low prices to help students afford dresses without spending a lot of money, while benefiting Samaritan's Feet at the same time.

It wasn’t long before advisors and even the fashion club jumped on board to help Madeline make it happen.   After months of planning, things came together.  More than 200 new and gently-used dresses were donated by the community.  Girls eagerly planning for their big prom night in June had the opportunity to see a first-class runway show and make note of their favorite dresses before heading to the racks to see which ones they wanted to purchase.  Madeline’s efforts were a great success.  They raised almost $500.

However, it’s not over yet.  After spring break, McEvily and her schoolmates will sell the remaining dresses to students at Red Bank Regional who did not have a chance to come to the fashion show.  She also plans to open it up to other schools to give girls a chance to save on prom dresses while supporting a great cause.
