MANNY DID IT !!

Article by Ron Pegram

Manny Ohonme, President of Samaritan’s Feet, concluded walking 300 miles in his bare feet with one last mile around Discovery Mill Mall in Lawrenceville, Georgia as thousands of others did the same with Manny in other locations around the world.  The walk drew attention to the plight of 300,000,000  impoverished people around the world who will not have a pair of shoes unless someone brings shoes to them.  Manny’s vision of putting shoes on 10 million children in the next 10 years grew out of his receiving his first pair of shoes at age 9 when a missionary came to his small village in Nigeria and gave his a pair of tennis shoes.  Manny’s life course was changed that day as he came to America with a basketball scholarship, became a businessman, and 5 years ago felt the call of God for him to do for others what that missionary had done for him.

The shoes and funds raised as a result of this 300-mile walk will not only cover the feet of many for the first time, but before each child receives their pair of shoes, they will hear a message of hope from God’s Word and a volunteer will wash that child’s feet and then put new socks and shoes on their feet.

Samaritan’s Feet will conduct shoe distributions in American neighborhoods, as well as around the world.  Please join us in this effort. Manny has done the walking; we need you to go on a foreign trip with us, organize an event in your hometown, or make a donation that will help others wash and place these shoes on needy feet.
