United Faith Assembly of God, El Siloe church and Samaritan’s Feet teamed up on March 28th to distribute over 500 pairs of shoes to the needy in Charlotte, NC. In the morning, over one hundred people from the churches sorted about 2500 pairs of shoes for Samaritan’s Feet and their ministry around the world. It was a morning full of fellowship, tying shoelaces, crushing shoe boxes, and organizing shoes by sizes.
In the afternoon, El Siloe church invited 500 people to come to a gospel presentation, lunch and shoe distribution. Ten people accepted the Lord. One accepted the Lord while her feet were being washed. She was overwhelmed with the love of our team member that would do this as a representative of Christ. 70% of those that attended the outreach were not from either church.
We trust that the people who received the shoes felt God’s love in a fresh way during our CityServe outreach. We know that our church people were changed forever by serving others. Georgiana, who is from United Faith, said, “I have never been so blessed serving as when I washed the feet of people, especially one woman who told me how she had been in a half-way house and had just come to church for the first time last week! She truly wanted to change her life, get off drugs, and get her kids back. I explained the Bible story of Jesus washing the feet of the disciples and then asked her if she would like me to pray. Oh my, she let me and she cried while I prayed for her! She told me they were tears of joy.”
